Deborah Fanton’s debut novel What It Never Was is being represented by Mark Owen Gottlieb at Trident Media Group. Fanton has spent the majority of her career as a technical writer and reporter and recently received her MFA from Fairfield University. She served as Lead Feature Writer and Editorial Content Coordinator for Best Version Media, where she produced a monthly magazine. Fanton has also taught several creative writing seminars for young adults. She earned a B.A. in English with honors from Colby College.

Fanton lives part-time on Martha’s Vineyard and part-time outside Boston with her husband and two dogs. Her three adult children live nearby, and she is an avid photographer, gardener, and singles tennis player. Fanton also held a number of senior management positions in the high-tech industry.
